METH2GEN – Main objectives

To reduce methane emissions by applying solely the latest LRDD technology and intelligent measuring and regulatory systems to enhance methane drainage efficiency from the strata above and underlying operated coal panels
To increase safety of miners by removing significant volumes of methane
To demonstrate how to effectively use waste and by-products and convert emissions into an energy source and product
To upskill and reskill the staff

Every year from JSW’s mines release over 37 mln m³ of already captured methane.

30%

Up to 30% of VAM is released from the strata below the coal panel (not captured yet).

A strategy for the utilization of surplus gas has not yet been developed.
